I am looking for a property near Belandur. I have heard horror stories about apartments that are encroaching lake beds getting demolished. Can anyone throw some light on how to avoid such properties?

It is actually scary nowadays with the BBMP demolishing properties built on Water-bodies. As per the NGT guidelines there should be NO construction within 75m of a lake bed and 50m from a RajaKaluve (Storm Water Drain). So before buying a property in Bangalore, I would suggest you check it for Lakebed/Storm Water Drain Encroachments on the following tool:
